The Legendary Walter Cronkite dies at 92

On Friday, July 17, we lost one of the most well known and memorable personalities of our time, Walter Cronkite. He was a fellow Missourian and I can remember as a kid growing up watching him on the news with my family.

Walter Cronkite was the voice of the news as well the “face of CBS Evening News”. He made it believable and you knew that when he reported it, that it was fact and it was important. From the assassination of JFK to the landing on the moon, it was always Walter Cronkite that we heard reporting it. No matter how many other newscasters were on whatever channel, we always watched the “CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite”.

There was a certain comfort in hearing news from him, no matter how grave, because we believed in him and he never let us down. Now I feel such a sense of loss as I pay my respects to the icon of journalism and a most memorable figure from my childhood.

“That’s the way it was” Rest In Peace, Walter Cronkite.
